Capricorn Predictions for 2013

Happy Birthday Capricorn. It's a fact that Capricorn is one of the more difficult signs to be. You're hardworking, serious and always accepting the position of leadership and responsibility. Plus your birthday is right around Christmas so your party gets lumped in with all the other holiday parties. Capricorns are always climbing the ladder of success. They are role models, pragmatic and they seem to get younger as the rest of us get older. Here are the annual predictions for those born under the sign of Capricorn.

It's both a money AND career year for Capricorn. Money and the acquisition of wealth is the focus this year and you will find lots of help if you ask. There will be several opportunities for new sources of income in the coming months.

This is also a career year indicating you can achieve a higher position in your company or, if you own the company, expand your market share and increase your profits. This is a good year to streamline your activities and delegate, delegate, delegate.

Your challenge this year is taking the time to get enough rest. If you overwork yourself you could find yourself exhausted and missing opportunities. Give yourself enough time for a full night's sleep. Schedule a vacation or two ahead of time and writing it in your day planner...in pen. A little away time will actually help you be more successful.

Your love life will be quite exciting this year. You may fall in love overnight and want to dash off to some romantic getaway. But it's wise to use your natural Capricorn caution as you may fall out of love just as quickly. If you're in an established relationship it's time to change things up a bit. It's not really a romantic evening if you're checking email on your phone while dining by candlelight.

There are changes at home this year. There could be an addition to the family or perhaps it's just one of the kids moving back home but either way it will be a good experience for the family. Mayan Calendar December 2012

So the world's going to end this month...at least according to the Mayan Calendar. And since the Mayans actually predicted their own demise and the end of their civilization lots of people are paying attention to what this will mean for us.What will happen on 12/12/12 or 12/21/12?

The Mayan Calendar, which dates back to before the 5^th century BCE, predicts the energy of future days. Each day is represented by a combination of symbols, there were 20 days in a “week”, 18 months in the year plus five days at the end of the year (called dangerous days). The whole calendar is set in a wheel and this wheel is coming to the end of a 5,125 year cycle. This, along with the Venus Occultation we had earlier this year, signifies the end of the calendar itself. 

Predicting using the Calendar: The Mayan people used the calendar to read the future. They used it to see when there would be war and when there would be peace. They could see when there would be abundance and when there would be lack. They could see when there would be lots of new children and times when there were less. It was like our Farmer's Almanac or Astrological transits, it gives an indication of things to come.

So let's be Mayan for a second and we are producing our predictive calendar. We look forward and everything, year after year, decade after decade, millennium after millennium, adheres to a familiar cycle. People are growing crops, trading with close neighbors, moving around by riding animals or on carts pulled by animals. People live in small villages, getting together and having children, eating a lot in the fall, nearly starving in Winter and in Spring starting the cycle again. Everything continued on this familiar cycle until about the 1800's. And then everything started to look very unfamiliar.

When we look at today what do we see? Only parts of the world would seem familiar to the ancient Mayans. In other parts there would be people zipping along in metal boxes and soaring through the air in metal tubes. They would be focused on the shiny square in their hands and shiny boxes on their desks. People talking but ignoring the people around them. In some parts of the world there would be so much food during winter that people would get fat. They would see people dependent on little white pellets that they swallowed to make themselves feel better. People today would seem alien to the Mayan people. And so how could a predictive calendar be of use to aliens?

So the world is ending: The world's ending so we can enter a new world of our own creation. This ending doesn't come in a day it's been coming for years. Our lives are entirely different than that of our great-grandparents lives. There's economic changes going on and power shifting to Asia. Technology is speeding up and innovation is happening...sometimes for better and sometimes for worse. We interact with our world differently than those from the past.

How does this affect us? During this time, the time of endings and new beginnings, people can get a little freaked out. They start to cling to what they have and try to keep things from changing. But the people who can change and do change will be the ones who prosper. This ending of the Mayan calendar signals our need to adapt. We need to figure out what we want and boldly take the steps to manifesting the life of our dreams. We can't wait any longer. Time is up.

What you can do right now: From a practical standpoint you need to take whatever you do each day and challenge yourself to try something different. You can change big things, like career, relationships, residences, but even changing small things will create new neural pathways in your brain and bring you new creative ideas and energy, the butterfly effect. Changing small things will help you manifest new energy and opportunities. Here's a short list of things to consider trying.

Try sleeping on the other side of the bed. Brush your teeth with the other hand. Have dinner for breakfast. Find a new route to work. Shop at a different grocery store. Go a whole day without TV. Bake cookies and take them over to the Senior Center. Wash your hair in the kitchen sink. Put a leash on the cat and take him for a walk. Take a drawing pad to a coffee shop and sketch. Submit a resume to a new company. Ask a neighbor to go to Zumba with you. RSVP for the oddest meetup group you can find.

Sometimes the smallest change can lead to a whole new life. The old world is ending and a new one will begin. And those of us who can adapt will survive and prosper.

One more thought: So the world may not have a literal end right now but I'm a California girl and seen my share of earthquakes, fires and floods, so Mayan Calendar aside I have a week's worth of food, water and medications (including pet food) stored in my pantry. If you don't have your emergency supplies ready this is a good time to get it together. You never know how whacky people can be when you combine holiday shopping with a predicted apocalypse. 

Three Planets above the Egyptian Pyramids

There's growing excitement on the internet that Mercury, Venus and Saturn will be in the predawn sky over the pyramids in Egypt on Monday, December 3rd . Some of the pictures show a planet over each pyramid, like something out of the movie Stargate. And internet reports say this happens only once every 2,737 years.

I'm here to burst the bubble. Actually these three planets will line up in a more vertical line rather than one over each pyramid. And it happens much more frequently than every couple millennium. These three planets lined up in Scorpio (as they are doing right now) back in 1954. They line up in other signs every seven years or so.

When planets align there's extra emphasis on the energy in that sign. Three planets in Scorpio brings us more Scorpio energy. Scorpio is about testing before trusting. It's about looking for the underlying reasons that people are doing what they are doing. And it's about keeping a mental tab on who owes you and who you owe.

So three planets lining up over the pyramids is good news for investors and movie lovers and bad news for those avoiding fast food.

2012-2013 Horoscope Predictions for Sagittarius

Sagittarius is considered the luckiest sign of the Zodiac. People born under this sign are clever, adventurous and philosophical. The mind of the Sag can hold so much. They are knowledgeable on many subjects and never afraid to give their opinions. They often travel a great deal and are always looking for new experiences. Here's the predictions for Sagittarius for the coming year, birthday to birthday. 

This is a power year. This year you need to plant the seeds that will grow into your biggest dreams. Start projects and businesses and you will receive help and support from those around you (including capital when needed). That said, read partnership agreements twice before signing to make sure you're getting a good deal. And avoid getting into any connections where you're restricted or held back.

Relationship energy is strong this year. If you're single you will most likely change that this year. And if you're married and wishing to be single you can achieve that as well. This is a year where it's good to let go of what's not working in your life and that can include relationships.

You will be traveling this year. There are several possible trips including one trip overseas. While these trips may be pleasure trips there's money to be made each time so keep your eyes open.

There's energy here to change your appearance. This could be a new hairstyle, new clothes or a change in your weight. If you're looking to lose weight consider adding hypnosis to your diet and exercise plan to boost the results.

Your career looks solid this year. There is a possible change in upper management but your position remains. And you can try for a promotion after the holidays.

If you have trouble sleeping this year look into meditation. Put on some soft music and just breathe. The periods of nervousness and fears you feel aren't really you. This is just energy from those around you. Breathe and let it pass.

Overall this year will be a lot better than last year. Think big, plant seeds and see what manifests.

Solar Eclipse - November 13, 2012

This month we have a Solar Eclipse on Tuesday, November 13th, at 21 degrees of Scorpio. Eclipses bring us a surge of energy for change. Each eclipse has three components; the Sun, the Moon and the Earth and each component has a meaning. 

In your horoscope the Sun represents all of your talents and abilities, the things you're interested in, and your unlimited potential to use these talents to achieve all you desire. The Sun is you and the 'you' you could be if you didn't limit yourself. In every story there's a hero and the Sun represents the hero part of you on your journey.

The Moon represents your emotional needs and what you do to fulfill those needs. If you feel safe and confident you can use the energy of the Moon to move yourself quickly towards your goals. If you feel afraid or unworthy then you can do things that are counterproductive and even destructive. The hero part of you may want to get a better job, but the Moon part of you may be afraid there's no better jobs out there so you let distractions keep you from sending out your resume or following up on leads. This is how we get stuck.

The Earth represents the mundane. This is your life doing laundry, getting the kids to schools, getting to work on time, and at the end of the day scrolling through Hulu.com to find something new to watch. It's these things that sometimes feel the most real and therefore take over whole lives.

In a Solar Eclipse the Moon passes between us on Earth and the Sun and for a moment your routine is interrupted. This can be a small change like where you just get up one morning and decide to do something different. You dust off the long neglected novel, you call up an old friend to reconnect or to everyone's surprise you show up at 6 am yoga . Or, if you're really stuck, it can be a big interruption; a job loss, a break up, a diagnosis, etc. These things really wake us up.

I know this sounds stressful but there's a solution. You need to ride the wave. Growing up in Southern California we used to visit my grandmother in Balboa and we would spend our summer days playing in the surf in Corona del Mar. That's where I learned it's better to ride the wave than get hit by the wave. When you're hit by the wave you don't know which way is up, you end up banging your head on the sea floor and your suit gets filled with sand. It's a drag.

The wave is inevitable just like the eclipse and change but if you get a running start and work on things in your life to change them for the better you can ride that wave all the way to the beach.

This eclipse will be felt especially by those who are born under the signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius but even if you're not one of those signs you can still be affected (you have a whole collection of planets in your Astrology chart). Take a moment and think about where you're stuck. Think about what needs to change in your life. And be open to the change. You're on the hero's journey so no matter what the eclipse brings you will look back on this time and know that you're better for having gone through it.

Mercury Retrograde Do's and Don'ts

Mercury's retrograde again. From November 6^th all the way to November 26^th we need to be careful of our driving, computers and our communication. Here's 7 things that are affected positively or negatively during the retrograde.

Setting up automatic deposits – While it's always risky to deal with computers and numbers during Mercury Retrograde setting up an automatic deposit into your savings account can be quite beneficial at this time. Just make sure you log it in your checkbook or you may find yourself short at the next retrograde.

Having furniture reupholstered – With the holidays are coming up you may be thinking to finally get that chair reupholstered but this is a difficult time to do something you want to come out right the first time. If you need it perfect you may want to wait until Mercury is direct in a few weeks.

Buying a new car – Mercury retrograde is probably the worst possible time to buy a new car. There can be so many things that go wrong between the car itself and all the paperwork and loan stuff. Don't tempt fate. If possible wait a few weeks and then go car shopping.

Getting back together – So your old girlfriend called and she wants to get back together. Congratulations. Mercury retrograde gives us a second chance to make relationships work. But proceed cautiously. She's the same girl who broke up with you last month and she probably hasn't changed.

Tutor for your child – Mercury rules communication and compulsory education and so Mercury retrograde is the perfect time to give your child a boost in those departments. If a tutor could help this is a great time to start.

Donating stuff to charity – While donating stuff is great, it clears out space and then you can get new stuff. However donating during Mercury retrograde and you run the risk of finding you need that item again in just a few weeks. Get everything boxed up and ready and then donate the items in December after you've had an opportunity to recheck the box a few times.

Signing a partnership agreement – Anytime you're working with contracts you need to be very careful during Mercury Retrograde. There can be much that gets overlooked in the fine print. There's one exception however. If you've been in the process of getting this agreement signed through a previous retrograde (three or four months ago) then this signing is just completing that energy and it's fine to move forward.

And it's Thanksgiving and so Mercury retrograde reminds us to check our shopping list twice. You don't want to forgot the sour cream or cranberry sauce.
